There are three important elements you need to successfully build The Brand of You online. These are a Facebook Business Page, Your Website/Blog and Your Newsletter. Each of these three elements interact together and are designed to position you as an expert and take you to an attraction position where people are finding you and wanting to work with you. Below I have briefly explained each element and how they interact.
Facebook Business Page
Facebook allows their users to set up their own business page. A business page can be thought of as a mini website within Facebook. The main benefit of a Facebook business page is that they are a great tool to generating traffic to your website and they are accessible to people who don’t have a Facebook Account. The Facebook page should be used as an entry point. A potential client lands on your page and based on the information you share you are building credibility and then encouraging them to move over to your website and join your mailing list.
Website/Blog
From your Facebook page you want to move people to your website where they can find more information about you and what you do. Once they land on your website you need to convert them into your sales process, whether that be a free consultation, to book a workshops, to buy a product or maybe just to get them on your email list. Your website must guide them into the process you want them to take. It must also provide them with lots of information about your industry and why you are the expert and the only choice for them.
Newsletter
Often when people land on your website or Facebook page they won’t buy from you straight away. People are more likely to buy from you when they feel that they like and trust you. This is where your newsletter comes in. By sending a regular newsletter, not only are you providing them with great information, you are positioning yourself as the expert and again the only choice when they need your products and/or services. Research has shown that people buy products and services when they are ready for them regardless of your sales and pricing etc. By staying top of mind to your prospect they will think of you when they are ready for your product and service.
When these three elements are used successfully they all work together to support and grow each other. Here are three examples.
Jane lands on your Facebook landing tab and likes your page. From there she has a look around and clicks on an update which is your latest blog post. She reads the blog post from your website and is then asked if she would like a copy of your free report. She agrees and you have gained a new Facebook fan and a subscriber for your newsletter.
Cathy was doing a Google Search and found your blog post, from there she likes your Facebook Fan page using your Like Box. She also has the option to see your free video series and again you get her email address.
Rachel was forwarded a copy of your newsletter from her friend Mary. Rachel uses the links in your newsletter to visit both your website and your Facebook page. She becomes a Facebook Fan and signs up for your newsletter. She can’t wait to get a copy next week.
It doesn’t matter how someone comes into your loop, when ever they land they are encouraged to “like” your Facebook page, signup for your newsletter, etc so that you get their details. You then continue to build the relationship with them and when they are ready to buy, you are their only choice.
